Buddy “L” toys were first manufactured by the Moline Pressed Steel Company, Moline, Illinois, in 1921, and were named after the son of the owner Fred Lundahl. Lundahl had started the company to manufacture auto and truck parts but he made a few specialty items for his son, Buddy. Buddy’s friends began to ask for similar toys and so Lundahl eventually went into the toy business.
This 1956 Buddy “L” Army searchlight repair truck is olive drab in color & an all metal truck. It has a flatbed cargo section but the searchlight is missing. There is a decal on each door that reads: “ Buddy ‘L’ Army Searchlight Repair – It Unit” and these are in excellent shape. The overall condition of the truck is fair and it does have the original paint.
