Buddy “L” toys were first manufactured by the Moline Pressed Steel Company, Moline, Illinois, in 1921, and were named after the son of the owner Fred Lundahl. Lundahl had started the company to manufacture auto and truck parts but he made a few specialty items for his son, Buddy. Buddy’s friends began to ask for similar toys and so Lundahl eventually went into the toy business.
This 1961 Buddy “l” camper pickup is a turquoise color with a white top. It is all metal with four working white wall tires. The camper part & tail gate of this piece are missing but the step side pickup with the wide fenders is in very good condition. A rare collector’s item.
