When the 4-4-2 was introduced in 1964 it was an option package available with the F-84/Cutlass series and did not become a series unto itself until 1968. By 1972 the 4-4-2 was back to being an option, again offered as a hardtop on the Cutlass S models and a convertible with the Cutlass Supreme. The handling and trim options, known as code W-29, was available with any engine Oldsmobile offered and came equipped with the Hurst Shifter, special hood, body side and deck lid striping, 4-4-2 radiator grilles, emblems and black hood louvers.
