A Look Back at Pioneer Auto Show’s 65th Anniversary Celebration

 – By

On August 17th, the Pioneer Auto Show invited those near and far to join in on partying like it’s 1954 at a bash commemorating our 65th year in business! The clear, sunny day provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to join together in festivities for all ages, including kids’ rides, a costume contest, 50’s karaoke, a car show and parade, and a street dance that led into the wee hours of the night. Read on for more fun details about our big celebration!

Entertainment for All

Whether you were alive in 1954 or just a glint in someone’s eye, our 65th anniversary celebration provided activities and attractions to provide a day to remember! The kids had a blast taking rides throughout the Pioneer Auto Show grounds, thanks to a couple of young volunteers.

Those looking to show off their singing chops belted out some 1950’s tunes at our karaoke station.

And best of all, attendees could browse all that there is to see here at the Pioneer Auto Show for only $1, all day long!

Cars, Cars, Cars

What would a celebration be here at the Pioneer Auto Show be if there wasn’t an event centered solely on beautiful classic and rare cars? Many people came to showcase their prized autos for the chance to nab 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. The big winners of the Jim Miller Show and Shine were: First place, John and Cheryl Iversen, Murdo,SD; Second place, Linc Ainsworth, Piedmont, SD; Third place, Larry Lehr, Rapid City. Thank you to all who participated!

A Celebration to Remember

Those in attendance were able to continue to enjoy the beautiful day with a parade that was held after the car show and shine. And the fun continued well after the sun went down, with Undercover Band coming from Sioux Falls to put on a great show and keep the crowd dancing. We are glad to have shared such a special occasion with all of you!

If you weren’t able to attend our 65th anniversary celebration, don’t fret! The Pioneer Auto Show is looking forward to many more big milestones worth honoring, and you’re always on the guest list! Make sure to come back to the Pioneer Auto Show website frequently for updates about events, and follow us on Facebook. See you soon!
