Party Like It’s 1954 at Pioneer Auto Show’s 65th Anniversary Celebration

 – By

It all started in 1954, with AJ ‘Dick’ Geisler displaying a 1913 Ford Peddler’s Wagon to attract customers to his new gas station, and now here we are, 65 years later, with over 275 rare and classic cars, 60 tractors, 60 motorcycles, and more antiques and memorabilia than can be seen in a single day. That’s right, Pioneer Auto Show is turning the big 65 and we want to celebrate this monumental occasion with all of you! On Saturday, August 17th, 2019, we’ll be offering $1.00 admission to the museum, and will also be hosting an event chock full of fun for all ages, complete with a car Show and Shine, street dance and much more. Read on for more details about this all day bash!

We’ll be kicking off the celebration at 8 a.m. right here at the Pioneer Auto Show. Come prepared to take a step back in time with us by breaking out the poodle skirts and bell bottoms, because we’ll be handing out prizes for those wearing 50’s and 70’s attire! There will be an Elvis impersonator on hand to provide plenty of hip-swinging entertainment, and you’ll have the opportunity to become a rockstar yourself at our 1950’s karaoke station. The little ones will have plenty to keep them occupied as well, with face painting, Humvee, train and Model T rides. Refuel and refresh with 1954 Covered Wagon food specials, which will be available all day.

Make sure to bring your wheels to show off at our car Show and Shine, taking place 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the west parking lot of our museum. You’ll have the chance to win one of the three People’s Choice awards that will be given during this event, which is sure to bring together car fans young and old to ring in another 65 years of car appreciation at the Pioneer Auto Show!

To round out the festivities, there will be a street dance on Main Street, which will kick off at 9 p.m. Boogie down with live music from Undercover Band from Sioux Falls, who put on a high energy show full of a wide variety of music.  The street dance will be held until 2 a.m., giving you plenty of time to bask in the last days of summer and get lost in the music.

With a little something for everyone, our anniversary celebration is not to be missed! Visit us in Murdo, SD on Saturday, August 17th to create some great memories while enjoying entertainment for the whole family. This event is also the perfect opportunity to see all of the unique new items that have recently arrived at the Pioneer Auto Show. See you there!
